Solution: A call-out to a lift breakdown followed by a full repair

The customer utilised our 24 hr call out number as their lift was behaving unreliably and they were worried it would breakdown with users inside. The lift doors were closing very slowly and intermittently stopping so they wanted some advice on what to do.
After receiving the call we dispatched one of our experienced engineers. They inspected the lift and performed fault diagnosis. It was determined that the false triggering was happening due to loose door shoes. On the same visit our engineers re-tightened and adjusted the shoes on all landings and doors. The lift was then put through some test runs and it showed no further faults. This was all part of the maintenance service contract the customer has with us. Their ‘Gold’ maintenance contract includes 24/7 calls outs, repairs and minor parts, so the travel, engineer’s time and initial call out and diagnosis was not chargeable. We also have this customer on a rolling contract at their request so we bill yearly, this reduces their admin and always know the contract is running.
