There are various pieces of legislation that govern the safe usage and compliance of lifting equipment.
Leeds Lifts offers a number of compliance services to ensure that your lift complies with the current legislations. This includes testing, providing recommendations and then, if required, refurbishing, repairing existing lifts or replacing your current equipment by installing a new lift.
Testing New Lifts
Legally, all newly installed lifts must be thoroughly tested before they can start being used. Leeds Lifts offers this testing as part of our installation service (included in the cost of all new lifts we provide). At this point we also offer hand over training so that you can keep the lift running smoothly.
Firefighting Lift Compliance
In the event of a fire, firefighting lifts are used to transport firefighters and their equipment to the right floor in order to tackle the blaze. We can advise you if you need to make changes to your current lift in order to be compliant, or we can design a new lift. The specialised firefighting lifts require trap doors, ladders for escape, fire-resistant doors and minimum car and door opening sizes.
EN 81-70 DDA (Disability Discrimination Act 1995)
EN 81-70 DDA (Disability Discrimination Act 1995) compliance can be hard to get right if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing. Our experts understand the legal requirements and will discuss any updates or changes you may need to make to your lift to achieve compliance. Compliance with the DDA includes things like button height, door opening dimensions, mirrors and audible floor announcements.
It is a legal requirement to have your lift LOLER tested every six months. Visit our dedicated LOLER testing page for more information.
We have decades of experience in the lift industry, and we can share this knowledge with you to help you use and maintain your lift.
Our maintenance contracts include visiting your site in the unlikely event that someone gets traped in your lift, but we can also carry out Lift Trap Release Training to nominated persons so that you have in-house resources to release someone if they become trapped.
We can also advice on lone working practices to ensure safety when working with the lift.
